At present, the foyer area is not used and therefore rather uninviting: without direct sunlight, it appears dark and inhospitable, and no seating is provided, either. The aim is to create a brighter, friendlier atmosphere with higher amenity value. The building’s direct proximity to the Tiergarten is realised, and this functions as a visual basis to the design concept. Warmer tones like wood and leather are used to reduce the space’s cool impact created by materials such as stone and glass. The whole are is provided with a programme of colours and materials easily accessible to the visitor, so creating an attractive atmosphere. In addition, the space is used to inform people subtly about the location and its history with a variety of exhibition modules.
